President William Ruto's administration's conflict with the church is far from over, as PCEA church reverend, Felix Muriithi, hints at calling for demonstrations. Speaking during a church sermon at PCEA Bahati, Muriithi urged his congregants to join him in large numbers when he calls for demonstrations, stating he would lead them. "When I call you for maandamano, please come forth. I will lead the people in saying haki yetu. We might just be able to get to the State House. No one should mess with us," he said. Muriithi argued that citizens are suffering, with some dying due to lack of access to healthcare He criticised the government for introducing the Social Health Authority (SHA), claiming it has worsened the situation in the healthcare sector.
The clergyman also criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to fulfill its promises to Kenyans.
"There are so many lies in our country. They promise to do certain things for Kenyans, but they end up not doing it. When we the church tell them, they say we are not speaking the truth," he added. He also called out the government for claiming the church was wrong in saying it constantly lied to Kenyans. "They cannot tell us that we are not speaking the truth. They have lied to us enough times. But let me tell you that God can never lie to us. I am asking our leaders to change. When they do so, our country will be able to do very well."
