The causes of a rise in UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) during cold seasons and how to lower It
A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a bacterial disease that infects components of the urinary system which includes kidneys, urethra, ureters and bladder. The specific reasons why UTIs appear to be more common in the colder months are complex; various factors lead to this cyclical trend.
During the winter months, people consume less water, which leads to thirst. Less frequent urine allows bacteria to make a habitat in the urinary system, increasing the like hood of the infection. During cold seasons people are likely to get flu and cold, this interferes with their immunity making them prone to the infection. Putting very tight underwear and clothes, can trap moisture, creating a warm, wet atmosphere in which microorganisms can grow and reproduce.
To decrease the chances of UTIs during wintertime, drink a lot of fluids during the day. Do not retain your urine for a prolonged period. Wipe from front to back to avoid anal bacteria from entering the bladder.
