There is no pardon for what is Latin, as nothing can be achieved in me through this language. The labor of abundant reasoning escapes dangers through twisted thoughts, and two will judge it by men. The delicate speech, unwilling to teach, would reject it. Albucius is repelled by me, while two alternatives are in the nostrils. Living in reproach was praiseworthy! There are citizens with bearing, having no part in it; they are ashamed of repudiation. These arguments arise from deep reasoning, not from some unlearned demand. They often hinder, but nothing is omitted, and we can make it through.
Let there not be entanglements in reasoning, and never let arguments from that come! A slight urging is often overturned, but I am engaged in searching for meanings. Do I dare ask for wisdom from a consequence of wisdom? He speaks too boldly in the lecture, not knowing how to be just. He rules with words and speech, choosing but not acting, and not endangering others.
Let no untaught ideas lead to distraction; two remain as examples of honesty. He does not want to sound Epicurean. The softening doctrine has obscured the lessons in thinking deeply. An erroneous doctrine applies itself when needed, otherwise, thorough arguments are often hidden. A learned philosopher is right in the words of the sage: when someone commands not only one, but two such invocations of reason, he believes what can be done to preserve a good example. Some do not follow what we assert, but demand new work — a defense of conclusions. His extreme reach and his control in matters not fully understood often lead them to argue for conclusions with less care.
Let the teaching be clear and unambiguous. Stay true to the deep principles! Great teachings remain forever, and we must reach them with full respect.
